Thanks for stopping by. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while. I’m just your average wife and mom who’s kiddos are mostly grown and has found hunting as a new hobby.
I grew up in an absolute non-hunting family in Michigan. One uncle hunted occasionally but we weren’t close and the wild game he gave us was terrible. In high school I dated a guy who’s dad was a hunter. One night he proudly served up a rabbit stew. I got a tuft of fur in mine. Needless to say my first experiences with wild game did not make me want to run out and learn how to do it.
When I met my husband, who is passionate about hunting, he wanted to get me to try it. What’s better than finding a true love and someone to share your hobby with? I promised I would give it a try. After getting married we had 2 awesome kids and ended up living in Germany. It took almost 15 years before I got around to starting hunting with him. It’s not easy to get a hunting license in Germany. (I’ll share more about that in a later post) I’ve had my license for about 6 years now. Last year was the first year I was able to hunt regularly. As I get ready to publish my blog, I am starting my 2nd Season of real hunting. Not just the occasional guest hunter.
My husband is my most common hunting partner. He is a wealth of knowledge and teaches me all kinds of things. He’s been hunting since he was a young boy. He got his German Hunting License about a year before me.
There is so much more to hunting than just harvesting animals. I would like to share with you, my take on hunting. My experiences, both good and bad. A friend of mine often asks how I can go in the forest and kill animals? What’s fun about that… Well, it’s not about killing something. I am however an omnivore. It interests me where my food comes from. I’ve witnessed a slaughter house and and animal hunted in the woods… personally I find the latter the more humane option. I hope to share some of my experiences so that others can see all the parts of hunting and not just the harvesting.
For Me, it’s also a place to unwind from my work which is technical and sometimes quite stressful. Some days it really is like watching grass grow.. and depending on the seat there’s not even grass. Other days it’s like having a zoo moving in front of you.
I hope you enjoy what you read and feel free to contact me to tell me what you’d like to know more about.
